Paper Excellence participated in the “Wood you find it?” event hosted by FSC International in Brussels to discuss the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), approved in April by the European Parliament. Representatives of the European Commission responsible for the approved text, public policy makers, companies, NGOs and FSC leaders discussed together what are the biggest challenges for the implementation of the EUDR.

Valmet will deliver key pulp mill technology to Shandong Huatai Paper’s new pulp mill in the Shandong province in China. Valmet’s delivery includes cooking and fiberline, a recovery boiler, a lime kiln and a lime mud filter. The new pulp mill will produce 700,000 tonnes per year and is scheduled to start up at the end of 2024.

Liansheng Pulp & Paper has successfully started up two ANDRITZ tissue machines including stock preparation and automation systems at its mill in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, China.
The tissue machines of the type PrimeLineTM W 2000 have a design speed of 2,000 m/min and a working width of 5.65 m. Both are equipped with energy-saving components like 20 ft. PrimeDry Steel Yankees and steam-heated hoods.

Despite a slight decline in the overall manufacturing sector in February, Canadian wood products manufacturing demonstrated resiliency in March 2023. According to Statistics Canada, the capacity utilization rate of the wood product manufacturing industry was 80.8% in March 2023, a significant rebound from 76.8% in February 2023. However, this represents a decrease when compared to the same period last year, where the rate stood at 85.6%.

Dongguan Jianhui Paper Co., Ltd. has successfully started up a new mechanical pulping line from Andritz including the world’s first TwinFlo Prime refiner.
The newly developed TwinFlo Prime optimizes the pulp flow to each refining zone thanks to improved refining gap adjustment. This reduces wear on the refiner plates and thus results in longer plate lifetime and lower maintenance cost.
