The Paper Excellence Group (Paper Excellence) today announced its updated organizational structure for its business units following the recent acquisitions of Resolute Forest Products in March 2023 and Domtar in November 2021.

Valmet will supply a Valmet IQ Web Inspection System for pulp dirt count to Ahlstrom’s Aspa mill in Sweden. The dirt measurement will cover the full width of production.
According to Valmet, the target is to improve the line efficiency of pulp drying and to achieve high quality of the pulp.
Valmet’s delivery is scheduled for October 2023.

The first quarter of 2023 has seen a year-on-year decrease of 4.5% in China’s newsprint imports, which totalled 103.1 thousand tons. The value of these imports has fallen by 18.4%, settling at $57.1 million. This contraction correlates with the average price of newsprint, which also witnessed a 14.5% decrease to $554.1 per ton.
