Graphic Packaging appoints Mark Connelly as new SVP

Graphic Packaging Holding Company, a leading provider of consumer packaging, today named Mark Connelly Senior Vice President, Investor Strategy and Development. This new role augments Graphic Packaging’s outreach capability with an aim to expand and diversify the company’s investor network globally.

Connelly brings more than 20 years of experience as a securities analyst and strategy consultant. He will report to Graphic Packaging’s Chief Financial Officer Stephen Scherger and work closely with Melanie Skijus, who will continue to lead the company’s investor relations function.

“In the past several years, we dramatically reshaped our company to offer a full spectrum of sustainable packaging for consumers’ everyday needs, both at home and on the go,” said Michael P. Doss, President and Chief Executive Officer at Graphic Packaging Holding Company. “Mark’s perspective, rooted in more than two decades of critical industry analysis, will help us fine-tune and extend the reach of this exceptional value creation story.”

Mativ Holdings, Inc. announced today that it has completed the sale of its Engineered Papers business to Evergreen Hill Enterprise, Pte. Ltd.

Julie Schertell, CEO of Mativ, commented, “We are very pleased with the completion of the sale of Engineered Papers. They have a great team and strategy in place for a successful future. For Mativ, this is an important part of unlocking our strategy to become a leading manufacturer of specialty materials. Georgia-Pacific Introduces EarthKraft Recyclable Unpadded Mailers

Georgia-Pacific, LLC today announced it has expanded its EarthKraft™ line of curbside recyclable mailers to include an unpadded mailer for e-commerce shipments. The new mailer, available in two sizes, is suited to ship apparel and other soft items that do not need padded packaging for transport. Amazon is a key GP EarthKraft customer and has been using the unpadded mailers since mid-July.

With the introduction of the unpadded mailer, the EarthKraft brand will now have two products in its portfolio. The unpadded mailers are similar to the recyclable padded mailers introduced by GP in 2020. Both padded and unpadded versions offer protection in a lightweight and flexible design, which can reduce freight costs. The mailers are also designed to be easy to pack, which can improve warehouse efficiency.

GP has sold more than one billion EarthKraft padded mailers to e-commerce companies looking for a cost-competitive alternative to plastic mailers. The company anticipates similar strong demand for the newly introduced unpadded mailer.

Graphic Packaging to acquire Bell Incorporated

Graphic Packaging Holding Company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Bell Incorporated, a well-capitalized U.S. packaging provider. The proposed acquisition is expected to add approximately $200 million in sales, $30 million in Adjusted EBITDA and will support strategic priorities of increasing integration rates and expanding customers and categories. Annual synergies of approximately $10 million are expected within 24 months of closing. The transaction includes three well-capitalized packaging facilities in the Midwest that consume 95,000 tons of paperboard annually.

The transaction is expected to close in the Q4 2023, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

Hood Container acquires Sustainable Printing LLC

Hood Container Corporation has acquired the corrugated packaging business of Dalton, Georgia based Sustainable Printing LLC. The transaction includes all printing, converting, and ancillary equipment located in Dalton. Hood will continue operating these assets in the current facility.

These assets complement Hood Container’s Southeastern footprint creating greater corrugated capacity and enhanced production capabilities in the Georgia and Tennessee region. This acquisition increases Hood Container’s digital print production footprint and will allow the company to continue expanding its corrugated converting capabilities.
