Paperboard Packaging Council Names Emily Leonczyk Executive Director and Vice President

five years in the paperboard industry — Leonczyk will oversee PPC’s operations while facilitating stakeholder collaboration and driving strategic initiatives.

Leonczyk has served PPC since 2018, first as Director of Marketing and Communications followed by a promotion to Director of Operations. Notably, her role in overseeing the 2018 rebrand of PPC underscores her contribution to shaping a modern-day vision for the organization.

Leonczyk was also crucial in guiding PPC through the COVID-19 pandemic, including the successful transition to virtual events and the subsequential resurgence of in-person engagement to pre-COVID numbers.

“I am honored to serve as the Executive Director and Vice President of PPC, and grateful to the entire PPC community for their support and trust,” said Leonczyk. “It’s my commitment to listen and respond to the needs of our members and empower our passionate and hardworking team to elevate the industry for the benefit of all.”

April Group invests in paperboard packaging mill in Indonesia

Leading sustainable fibre and product producer Asia Pacific Resources International Limited has strengthened its commitment to supporting the growth of the green economy in Indonesia. The company is set to expand its product portfolio in the downstream sector by investing IDR33.4 trillion in a sustainable paperboard production facility.

 

The construction of the new facility – which will be located at APRIL’s operations in Pangkalan Kerinci, in Riau province, Sumatra – is one of the largest manufacturing investments in Sumatra in the last decade. The investment is expected to support Indonesia’s continued economic development and recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic through the diversification of sustainable downstream fibre products with added value.

Natron and BTG achieve significant reduction in Kappa variability

The collaboration between Natron Hayat and BTG has recently achieved a new milestone with the successful implementation of a cooking control project. This project has successfully achieved its goal to reduce Kappa variability by 50% and maintain controls running at 92% of the time. The installation of BTG instruments to measure blow line consistency and kappa, implementation of advanced process control and remote support for maintaining control performance and reliability not only ensured successful implementation of the project, but also sustained beneficial performance over time.
