According to the goal of Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, to develop its Future Mill-concept, the company will aim to have fossil free mill fleet by 2030 and accordingly it has stopped using coal as an energy source in its Kreuzau’s mill. Since September 2023 the Kreuzau mill has been replacing the use of fossil-based lignite by wood pellets in the mills heat production.

AB Grigeo, one of the largest paper and wood industry company groups in the Baltic States, has signed a preliminary agreement for the purchase of shares regarding the acquisition of one of the factories of Głuchołaskie Zakłady Papiernicze sp. z o.o (GZP), a tissue paper and cardboard manufacturer in Poland.
The company intends to acquire 100% of the shares of the subsidiary company of GZP which will manage the tissue paper business in Niedomice, Poland.
The transaction is planned to be completed within 6 months, subject to the conditions precedent specified in the agreement. The company plans to finance this acquisition from its own financial resources.

Cascades Inc. has reported its unaudited financial results for the three-month period ended March 31, 2023.
Q1 2023 Highlights:
Sales of $1,134 million (compared with $1,135 million in Q4 2022 and $1,038 million in Q1 2022)
Operating loss of $(80) million (compared with $(20) million in Q4 2022 and $(4) million in Q1 2022)
