Georgia-Pacific to invest $150 at its tissue mill in Halsey, Oregon

Georgia-Pacific announced a $۱۵۰ million investment in its retail consumer tissue business at its mill in Halsey, Oregon.

Investments to the Halsey mill will increase production capacity for high quality bath tissue, with initial production expected in 2025. By the end of this project, Georgia-Pacific will have invested over $۲۰۰ million in paper machine and converting assets at Halsey since 2022.

Georgia-Pacific announced a $150 million investment in its mill in Halsey, Oregon to improve its bath tissue production.

The improvements announced today at the Halsey, Oregon mill will support Georgia-Pacific’s premium tissue offerings, such as Quilted Northern Ultra Plush® tissue, as well as customer branded tissue.

Clearwater Paper to launch circular polyethylene in consumer tissue packaging

Clearwater Paper Corporation today announced a collaboration with Charter Next Generation (CNG) for an early-to-market initiative to include advanced recycled polyethylene in Clearwater Paper’s private label tissue packaging offerings. Advanced recycling includes difficult-to-recycle waste plastics converted into new plastics that perform like virgin materials. The purchase of this material in the place of traditional resins helps to give new life to some plastics otherwise headed to landfills.

“CNG is providing a competitive edge and is leading the way in transforming waste plastics into useful products. This advancement is critical to our success in meeting and exceeding sustainability goals for Clearwater Paper,” said Mike Urlick, senior vice president and general manager, consumer products at Clearwater Paper.

Velvet Care to halve tissue factory’s carbon footprint with PLN 63 million heat and power plant

Velvet CARE, the consumer tissue producer owned by ESG transformation specialist private equity fund Abris Capital Partners, will slash its CO2 emissions by 46% with an investment of PLN 63 million ($15 million) in a gas-fired combined heat and power plant (CHP).

Central Europe’s fastest-growing consumer tissue maker will build the cogeneration unit at its flagship factory in Klucze, southern Poland. The investment will save 69,000 tonnes of annual CO2 emissions, compared with 151,000 tonnes in Scope 1 + 2 emissions in 2022. That figure includes both direct emissions and indirect emissions related to purchased energy.
