Archroma, a global leader in sustainable specialty chemicals and solutions for industries such as textiles, packaging & paper, paints and coatings, today announced that it has secured all regulatory approvals required to complete the acquisition of the Textile Effects business from Huntsman Corporation (“Huntsman Textile Effects”).

As an addition to the proven OceanCoat roll cover, Voith has now developed the OceanCoat P. The new coater backing roll cover is specially made for high-demand positions in blade coater applications. Due to its new polyurethane chemistry and unique filler concept, OceanCoat P is optimized to meet the requirements of stable profile conditions and the highest wear resistance.

Södra has laid out its commitment to science-based targets for 2030 in its annual and sustainability report, and to reach net zero by 2040. The Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) will provide support in quantifying its emissions and following up emission reductions in a way that is structured, recognized and transparent.

Södra has decided to investigate the conditions for a new large-scale sawmill in Kinda in Östergötland. A preliminary project will be undertaken and serve as a basis for a future investment decision.

Magnus Örnberg has been recruited as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Södra. He has extensive experience in all areas of finance and most recently served as CFO of SAS.

Magnus Örnberg will take office on 1 May and become a member Södra’s Group Senior Management. Sara Cronholm will continue serving as Södra’s Interim CFO until then.

In December 2022, the average price for wood pellets imported to European Union decreased 6% compared to the previous month at $267 per tonne. This is 51% more than a year ago when it was $177.

Nippon Paper Industries has decided its Australian consolidated subsidiary Paper Australia Pty Ltd (“Opal”) will withdraw from the graphic paper business at the Maryvale Mill due to the recent suspension of timber harvesting in Victoria’s state forests.

Stora Enso has entrusted the leading full-line supplier Voith with the conversion of a former paper machine. The machine at the northern Finnish site in Oulu previously produced coated graphic papers. After the successful conversion, the machine will produce high-quality folding boxboard and coated kraft back (CKB).
