Paper Excellence recently announced that one of the unions at its Crofton mill, the Public and Private Workers of Canada (PPWC) local 2, has given 72-hour strike notice, putting the union in a strike position on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

Klabin has successfully started up a sulfuric acid plant supplied by ANDRITZ at its Ortigueira/PR plant in Brazil. The plant is a world first and has the capacity to produce 150 tons of commercial-grade sulfuric acid per day from concentrated odorous gases and elemental sulfur. It serves the pulp lines at Klabin’s Puma Unit and makes the site completely self-sufficient in sulfuric acid by recycling sulfur from the waste streams.

Nordic Paper has entered into a binding agreement to sell its 37.6% minority shareholding in Åmotfors Energi AB to the utility infrastructure company Nevel AB. Nevel AB has also agreed to acquire all shares from other owners which means that Åmotfors Energi AB will become fully owned by Nevel AB. In conjunction with the transaction, Nordic Paper and Åmotfors Energi AB have entered into a new long-term supply agreement for steam, hot water, and part of the electricity that is required for the production of kraft paper at the Nordic Paper production plant in Åmotfors.

The Chinese paper manufacturer Shanying Suzhou Paper commissioned Voith to supply two XcelLine paper machines with comprehensive digitalization and automation solutions as well as services and spare parts packages for its new site in Zhongying, Anhui Province, China. Voith will supply the entire lines. With a design speed of 1,300 m/min and a wire width of 9,300 mm, the two PM 71 and PM 72 will produce corrugating medium with basis weights between 50 and 120 gsm. The total production capacity of the corrugating medium machines is 812,000 tons per year.
