Since September 2023 the Kreuzau mill has been replacing the use of fossil-based lignite by wood pellets in the mills heat production.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Currently tissue paper production process creates annual emissions of 90,000 t CO2 and by implementing wood pellets instead of lignite, fossil-based CO2 emissions will be reduced by 60,000 t per year, meaning over 30 per cent reduction of CO2 emissions yearly in Mets\u00e4 Tissue.
